The University of Lynchburg’s cross-country teams raced to record finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Newville, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. The women finished seventh out of 32 teams, while the men came in ninth — both unprecedented.
For the women, it was the third consecutive trip to the national championship race. Their previous best finish was 21st, which the Hornets earned in 2018 and 2022.
The men’s ninth place — a significant improvement from the previous record of 13th in 1991 — was also the best finish by any Old Dominion Athletic Conference school at the national meet.
