University of Lynchburg is now providing a new tool to help students, prospective students, and other members of the LC community boost their financial literacy and make wise choices as they pay for college.
The College partnered with NorthStar Education Services to give students access to GradReady, a portal with educational videos and interactive financial tools geared towards students and graduates. The LC portal can be accessed at lynchburg.gradready.com.
“We are here to provide students with an education and set them on the path to a successful life, and financial literacy is an important component of that goal,” said Timothy Saulnier, director of financial aid at University of Lynchburg. “By making GradReady available, we are going a step beyond the standard financial aid services to ensure students can make wise choices while they pay for college and save for future purchases.”
GradReady includes three content tracks that registered users can follow. A track about paying for college includes informational videos about loans, grants, and other forms of financial aid and has tools that help students plan how to pay for college. A money management path allows students to develop a budget based on the income they can expect from their anticipated careers and learn more about how sound spending habits improve financial standing. The final track focuses on student loan repayment plans.
GradReady’ has advantages for students at all levels, including prospective students — many of whom are receiving financial aid award letters from LC this month, said Saulnier. “I hope our current and future students will use GradReady and benefit from a greater understanding of how to pay for college and manage their finances effectively,” he said.
