University of Lynchburg’s nursing program is ranked among the top up and coming nursing programs in the South, according to a website that provides information on nursing graduate schools.
The website Best Master of Science in Nursing Degrees included the LC nursing program in a recent top 10 list that evaluated nursing degree programs based on instructional methods, community connections, flexibility, and other factors.
The list ranked nursing programs according to a point system, and LC tied with four other colleges and universities in the top 10 list. The article about the ranking mentions LC’s Accelerated 2nd- Degree Nursing Program, which allows students with a bachelor’s degree in another field to pursue nursing more quickly. It also cites LC’s Student Nursing Association and the Xi Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta, the International Honor Society for nursing, among the reasons for including LC.
“University of Lynchburg offers a rigorous program that prepares students to be advanced nursing practice leaders across health care systems,” said Dr. Jenna Lloyd, director of nursing. “Our program recognizes the importance of developing leaders who understand how to ethically care for a diverse patient population through advanced education in communication, systems management, health care policies, informatics, and scholarship; ensuring quality, safe and efficient patient care.”
Having well-educated nurses is critical in a healthcare system growing more complex and costly, she added. “Our graduates are prepared to deliver patient centered care across the health care system,” Dr. Lloyd said.
