About 200 students gathered at LC Wednesday for the annual John G. Eccles Leadership Summit. They spent the day learning about diversity, teamwork, partnerships, conflict resolution, accountability, and other principles important in leadership.
In one activity, the students crafted a mosaic of Elsie the Hornet, the LC mascot, out of hundreds of glass tiles. While one group worked on the hornet itself, others collected tiles from LC faculty and staff around campus, learning about the importance of partnering with others on campus.
They also participated in several other activities to strengthen their leadership and teamwork skills, including one that challenged them to use cut pool noodles to pass a marble down a line and into a cup.
The Leadership Summit continued on Thursday with more activities and presentations. The students involved in the activities are leaders of clubs, student government, and other organizations on campus.
