Hundreds of University of Lynchburg community members will continue their fight against cancer at the College’s annual Relay for Life this weekend.
The event will kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday and continue until 10 p.m. This year, Relay for Life was scheduled for the daytime rather than overnight to help involve more people throughout the event.
More than 300 participants on 39 teams have registered for the event, but organizers anticipate many more will come and participate, said Casie Laricks ’15, Relay for Life chair.
“There are some really great team fundraisers this year and the weather is supposed to be beautiful, so we are looking forward to a great event,” she said.
Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Each year, millions of people around the world participate in the event to celebrate cancer survivors, honor the memories of those who have lost their battles with cancer, and raise money for continued research and survivor support.
