The women’s soccer team garnered three of the top four awards from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) for its 2013 all-conference team. Junior Dessi Dupuy was voted the ODAC Player of the Year, senior Rachel Sadowski earned ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Dr. Todd Olsen collected ODAC Coach of the Year accolades.
The Hornets were 21-1 on the season, unbeaten, and untied for nearly two months. LC captured its fourth-straight ODAC crown with a 2-0 victory over Washington & Lee University in the title game, and competed in the NCAA Division III Tournament in Atlanta, Ga. The Hornets defeated Centre College in the first round Nov. 16, but fell to Emory University in the second-round matchup Nov. 17.
Dupuy and Sadowski were two of four Hornets to earn first-team all-conference honors. Dupuy ranks #1 in the ODAC in goals (21, six ahead of the second-ranked player) and points (48, 14 ahead of the #2 player). She came on strong at the end of the season, scoring eight goals with three assists in the final four contests. Dupuy also was named first-team All-ODAC as a freshman and sophomore.
Sadowski has garnered numerous awards in her career. Last fall she earned CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) second-team Academic All-American honors and was an NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) first-team Academic All-American. An environmental science major, Sadowski has a cumulative GPA of 3.97.
Forward Angelo Bosco and midfielder Jenn Snyder joined Dupuy and Sadowski on the All-ODAC First Team. Bosco ranks only behind Dupuy in the conference with 14 goals, and also has six assists for 34 points. She has four game-winning tallies and this is her third appearance on the All-ODAC team. Snyder, one of the top two-way players in the conference, has two goals and three assists in 21 matches. This is her first all-conference award.
Midfielder Jessie Gonzalez and defender Tori Dott nabbed second-team honors. Gonzalez returned after missing most of the 2012 season due to injury and stepped right back into an important role. The senior netted six goals with five assists and had two game-winning scores. Dott helped Sadowski anchor a strong backline that has allowed just 10 goals in 22 games. She was an All-ODAC first-teamer in 2011 and the conference Rookie of the Year in 2010.
Sophomores Morgan Singer (forward) and Jade Woll (midfielder) were named to the all-ODAC third-team.
