The Department of Leadership Studies at University of Lynchburg hosted a Summer Administrative Institute for 100 area school administrators from Lynchburg City, and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell, Nelson County, and Halifax.
The event featured presentations from LC faculty Dr. Roger Jones, professor educational leadership; Dr. John Walker, associate professor of educational leadership; and Dr. Mary Ann Mayhew, assistant professor in educational leadership and leadership studies.
Topics included General Assembly Changes and Current Legal Issues, the PK-12 Initiative to Improve the Graduation Completion Index, Creating a School Culture and Climate of Learning, Mentoring and Coaching, The Elements of Quality Teaching, and Effective Change Practices. The Institute received high marks from participants who described the event as “excellent and extremely relevant.”
