University of Lynchburg’s Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate Program has been recognized for exemplary teaching and training for the second time by the Virginia Autism Council (VAC).
LC was one of the first college/university programs to receive the recognition in 2007 and has met updated requirements to be approved as a VAC Comprehensive Certificate in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The VAC recognizes only those programs that provide comprehensive teaching and experiences in the field and are aligned with the skill competenciesfor paraprofessionals and professionals serving individuals with autism across the lifespan.
The VAC is a council of autism experts that includes professionals, self-advocates, and family members who work together to advance knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) by defining skill competencies needed to effectively support a person with ASD and to advance higher education, training, and educational opportunities for personnel and caregivers who provide support.
