Students created a “Presidential Throwdown” to draw attention to the last presidential debate, the other races on the Nov. 6 ballot, and the importance of voting.
Students donned Obama and Romney masks for their mock fights in a boxing ring. LC Associate Chaplain Anne Gibbons and President Kenneth Garren served as referees. Students prepared a script covering many of the typical topics in presidential debates including coal and gun control.
The Bonner Leader students, led by Megan Hunt and Leah Bigl, set up the throwdown as a “guerrilla” type event. The idea is for students to stumble across the event and then stop to see what’s going on. Students held the 10-minute throwdown twice — once in front of Schewel Hall between classes and again in front of the cafeteria before lunch.
