Four female University of Lynchburg students and a neighboring couple will redecorate a room in each others’ houses Oct. 23-24 in the third annual Trading Places: LC Style.
This initiative is a joint effort between the Office of Residence Life and the Residential Student Organization (RSO) to help establish positive relationships between LC students and local residents in surrounding neighborhoods.
Vanessa Alberto, Ashley Derr, Julie DeVries, and Sarah Turner are teaming up to transform a bathroom for Matthew and Angela Carroll. The Carrolls, who have two sons, will be redecorating a living room/dining area for the students.
The LC Trading Places concept is based on Trading Spaces (a popular TLC TV show). Two sets of homeowners trade houses for roughly 48 hours. During this period, each team completely redecorates (new paint, furniture, accessories, electronics, etc.) a room in their neighbor’s house.
For the LC version, each team of designers will be given a budget of approximately $1,000 and access to University of Lynchburg faculty and staff, and student volunteers. The teams will have 26 hours to complete their projects with the program starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, and finishing at 12 noon Sunday, Oct. 24.
