Freshman James Womack (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) nabbed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball Rookie of the Year honors and four other LC players were named to the All-Conference team.
Womack has a 6-3 record with a 2.32 ERA while yielding 29 hits and only 17 runs in 42.2 innings pitched. He has struck out 32 batters while holding opponents to a .191 batting average.
Senior pitcher Matt Morgan (Bedford, VA/Liberty) and junior shortstop Richard Palase (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) both earned All-ODAC First Team honors. Morgan has a 5-1 record through 10 starts including one complete game. He has 40 strikeouts this season and has held opposing hitters to a .225 batting average.
Palase, a second team All-ODAC selection last year, has started 34 games this season at shortstop for Lynchburg. He has knocked five doubles, one triple and a homerun along with 22 walks. The slick fielder has a .319 batting average with an on-base percentage of .430.
Senior Mike Walters (Manassas, VA/Osbourn) was named to the All-ODAC Second Team. Walters has started 35 games in centerfield and has been the primary leadoff hitter for much of the season. He has a .309 batting average while registering a team-high 42 hits, nine doubles and 24 RBI. Walters has yet to make an error this season in the field.
The conference also named senior Jordan Watkins (Freeland, MD/Hereford) an All-ODAC Honorable Mention. Watkins hit .310 for the season 27 hits and 10 RBI. As a pitcher he has a record of 5-0 with a 2.10 ERA in 34.1 innings pitched.
