The third annual Gifts for Gulu “Water for Life” 5K race and children’s one mile “Water for Gulu Fun Run” will be Saturday, March 13 at University of Lynchburg’s Shellenberger Field.
The race will benefit the “Gifts for Gulu” program whose purpose is to help raise awareness about genocide and collect new/used athletic equipment for the people of Gulu, Uganda. Runners are encouraged to bring new/used athletic shoes and athletic equipment which will be sent to the people of Gulu.
Starting time for the 5K is 9 a.m. at University of Lynchburg. The Children’s Fun Run begins at 10 a.m. Entry fee for the 5K is $15 before March 12 and $20 day of the race. The Children’s “Gulu Fun Run” is $5 before March 12 and $7 day of race.
All ages and activity levels are encouraged to participate. Food, drink, and short-sleeved wicking shirts will be given to all registered for the 5K. Participants in the Gulu Fun Run will receive a cotton t-shirt. Special gifts from the children of Gulu will be given as prizes, as well as to all children who participate in the Gulu Fun Run.
