The Chaplain’s Office and Office of Community Involvement (Students Engaged in Responsible Volunteer Service) Office are sponsoring a Haiti Relief Concert Saturday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. in Snidow Chapel. Donations will be accepted at the door.
The Salvation Army will be coordinating use of the relief monies raised for Haiti. Among those playing in the concert are: Dr. Sean Beavers, Ian Moore, and The Good Kind-Rock Group. For more information, contact Chris Gibbons at 544-8640.
The University of Lynchburg men’s basketball team raised nearly $1,300 for Haiti from its game against Hampden-Sydney College on Wednesday. All proceeds will be donated to Beyond Borders, a philanthropic and service organization that works to increase child literacy, improve education, and end child servitude in Haiti. With the recent earthquake that has devastated Haiti, their focus has changed to raising money and helping those in need.
