Sophomore defender Joe Lisicky earned third-team United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaching Association (USILA) honors Tuesday, making him one of the top 36 players in the country. Three other Hornets received honorable mentions.
Lisicky anchored a tough Hornet defense that allowed just 7.26 goals per game this season, second-best in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). A first-team all-ODAC selection, he led the team with 38 caused turnovers and was second with 71 groundballs. Lisicky also managed to net eight goals of his own.
Dylan Hoff, Franc Cook, and Max Voumard were named as honorable mentions to the All-American team. Hoff, a junior attack, finished the season fifth in the conference in goals (37) and was fourth in points (57). Cook, a junior goalie, was second in the ODAC with a 7.17 goals-against average and save percentage (58.3%). Voumard, a sophomore midfielder, posted 27 goals and eight assists for 35 points, and scored six times in extra-man situations, tops on the squad.
The Hornets finished the 2011 season 13-6 and advanced to the ODAC Tournament Title game for the second-straight year.
