James Bell ’12 finished eighth in the decathlon to earn All-American honors at the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
Bell finished strong Friday to move up five spots from 13th place after completion of Thursday’s events. On Friday, he took second in the pole vault, clearing 15’1″, and was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 162’2″. He also did well in the shot put, taking seventh with a heave of 37’9 ¼”.
Jessica Gibbs ’11 finished 17th in the heptathlon. She ran a 2:23.83 in the 800 meters to come in sixth place Friday.
