What Animals Eat in the Winter

November 11, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Come test your Virginia wildlife knowledge.

Do you know what animals eat in the winter? In Virginia, winters are cold, and food is scarce. Learn how our local wildlife adapts and overcome by preparing caches of food for leaner months through a self-guided program.

During the program, you will complete a passport that’s given to you at the beginning of your adventure by our staff. Participants will take to the trail system to find the question stations that correspond with their passports. Activities are geared towards elementary students, but there is a mix of easy and challenging questions to keep students of all ages engaged, as well as parents. At the end of your adventure, return your passport to the staff at check-in to check your answers and receive a certificate and prize based on the level of completeness.

You may arrive anytime between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. and plan on the activity taking two hours to complete. You may stay on the grounds until 2:30 p.m. if you would like to bring a picnic lunch or explore further!
