“Dr. Messerschmidt is an excellent teacher. He makes sure that students understand the material and provides a lot of help. I really enjoy ECON 250 because of the lab section where we get to work closely with Dr. Messerschmidt. He is always there if you need him and makes himself available. His assignments and tests are very fair and really help the students understand the topic fully. He is very approachable and develops a good relationship with students. He encouraged me to continue with economics and because of that, I have decided to become an economics major. I feel confident that his teaching style and methods are preparing me for success in economics and in life.”
“Dr. Messerschmidt is a phenomenal teacher. He is very amiable and always eager for students to learn. He is always open to speaking with a student, whether it is class-related or not. His affinity and love for economics is contagious to his students.”
“I believe that Dr. Messerschmidt is deserving of the Sydnor Award because of his hard work and dedication to his students. I was overwhelmed at the start of the class and worried that I was not going to understand the information. I asked countless questions and Dr. Messerschmidt answered every one. I started off afraid and unsure how the semester would play out, but I have come to really enjoy class. I can ask any question without feeling like I may be asking something silly. He continuously brings in real world examples of what we are covering in class. Also, Dr. Messerschmidt always gets our graded assignments back very quickly, which allows us to always know how we are doing in the class. This is my first class with Dr. Messerschmidt but I can see already that he is truly dedicated to ensuring that every student understands the material and that every student is successful.”
