Men’s soccer standouts senior Jonathan Sheffield and junior Luke Moore were honored recently on the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's All-South Atlantic Region Team. Sheffield garnered a first-team spot on the all-region team, while Moore took a third-team slot.
Sheffield, also a first-team All-State and All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) performer, excelled when given his first chance to start as goalie for LC. He had a save percentage of .826 with 95 stops and a 1.04 goals-against average. Sheffield was second in saves in the ODAC while also finishing fourth in save percentage. He boasted an 11-6-2 record between the pipes.
Moore was a first-team All-ODAC honoree for the second-straight season. He led the team in scoring with six goals and eight assists for 20 points. He scored twice in a 3-0 victory over Randolph-Macon College early in the season.
Junior Josh Hinkle also received All-State second-team honors from the 2013 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State men's soccer team.
Hinkle was the cornerstone of an LC defense that allowed just 20 goals in 19 matches. He also scored a goal and added an assist. Hinkle received first-team All-ODAC honors earlier this fall.
The Hornets finished with a record of 11-6-2 while winning eight matches in conference play and making it to the ODAC Semifinals.
