Students are notified in April of who their academic advisor will be. Traditionally we try to assign students to an advisor in their major or in the School their major is in. You’ll receive an email from the Assistant Director of First-Year Programs that will provide you with your advisor’s name and contact information.
The best way to get in contact with your advisor is through their University of Lynchburg email. If you are not able to get in contact with your advisor after a few attempts, please contact the Academic Achievement Center at 434.544.8339 and make an appointment with the Director of Academic Advising.
Traditionally transfer students can start registering for courses in May. Before registering for courses you need to make an appointment with your academic advisor by phone or in person to talk with them about your course schedule. They’ll provide you with the instructions of how to register for courses online through our online student portal (MyLC).
When you have your advising appointment please bring with you a copy of your transfer evaluation, along with a list of any additional courses you have taken, or are taking, which are not yet processed as transfer credits.
The Registrar’s Office conducts all official credit evaluations. Within two weeks after being admitted an official credit evaluation will be mailed. If you complete courses after your initial credit evaluation is received it is required that you submit an updated transcript for evaluation.
If you need to take the foreign language placement test, please contact Academic and Career Services at 434.544.8339 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request access to the placement test.
Transfer SOAR and Transfer Hornet Days are required events. All sessions during Transfer SOAR are required for transfer students to attend. During Transfer Hornet Days you need to go to all events that are listed as required, but you are highly encouraged to attend the optional events as well. You’ll receive more information throughout the summer about Transfer SOAR and Transfer Hornet Day.
Transfer SOAR is open to parents and guests to attend. We have a separate parent and guest program for them. Transfer Hornet Days are just for the students to attend, there are no separate parent and guest sessions.
Link Leaders are current LC students who are successful transfer students that help assist you in your transition during your Transfer SOAR and Hornet Day experience.
