Since they arrived in 1986, AJ and John Eccles have been leaders and friends to the University of Lynchburg community. As John wrote about his retirement: “My career here has been much more than a job; it has been a vocation. I have learned so much from LC and have had the privilege to touch countless students in my work. The really beautiful part is that those very same students have also touched me in profound ways. Because LC is really a part of my family, AJ and I are not leaving it; we are just moving on to the next phase. It is a great day to be a Hornet!”
Many students cite AJ and John’s encouragement and influence during trying times as the reason they were able to complete their studies at LC. Inspired by their service to students, friends of the Eccles family have started a scholarship fund in their honor for rising sophomores or juniors who serve as excellent role models for their fellow students. Like John and AJ, this scholarship will help students who have overcome significant obstacles on their path to a degree at University of Lynchburg.
AJ and John have asked the Hornet Nation to contribute to this scholarship. Our goal is $25,000. No other gift could better reflect their spirit and enduring legacy at University of Lynchburg.
Thank you for considering supporting this wonderful endeavor!
