Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Fraternity and Sorority Life at University of Lynchburg. We hope that your student has discussed with you their interest in joining a fraternity or sorority. This is an incredible opportunity for them to learn and grow within the college setting. We hope that your student discusses his or her options with you and that your input is included in the decision-making.
Greek organizations have the opportunity to be a transformative experience for your student with opportunities on and off campus. Many of our Greek men and women also hold leadership positions within other organizations. Some of the leadership roles include: Student Government Association, Student Activities Board, Enrollment Student Ambassadors, Connection Leaders, and Debate Club. Additionally, Greek men and women are also varsity athletes ranging from a variety of different sports like golf, equestrian, field hockey, and basketball. It is important to look at the Greek experience as one that students can use as a learning tool to develop their skill-set to help develop socially, professionally, and personally. Finally, Greek men and women also have the option to continue their learning and experience by attending conferences through their organization or through the College. The members who attend these conferences have the chance to meet members from across the country and learn about the bond they all share.
It is important to remember that the membership in a fraternity or sorority does not end once the student graduates from the College. Greek membership is an opportunity to be involved for a lifetime. I encourage to have that conversation with your student and ask them questions about what they want out of their college experience. If you or your student have any questions regarding the Greek experience or would like to learn more information about the chapters at University of Lynchburg, please do not hesitate to contact me at or by phone at 434-544-8527.
