At the core of the Bonner Leader Program is our students’ regular service to the community. Our program partners with numerous Lynchburg nonprofits that serve a variety of populations including the elderly, youth, adults with special needs, people with housing and food insecurity, among others. Below is a sampling of many of these sites with more information about what they do. We love our community partners!
- Adult Care Center: A facility that supports and assists the elderly and caregivers
- Beacon of Hope: A college and career preparation program for middle and high schoolers
- Boys & Girls Club: An after-school program that provides tutoring and mentoring to local youth
- Brook Hill Farm: A therapeutic horse riding program for youth and adults
- Greater Lynchburg Habitat for Humanity: An organization that builds and improves homes in partnership with local families
- Kids Haven: A center for grieving children that provides group support and resources
- Lynchburg Daily Bread: A food ministry that serves lunch every day to community members
- Lynchburg Grows: A garden that provides food to the community, focusing on those who have limited access to fresh produce
- Lynchburg Humane Society: An organization that cares for lost and homeless pets
- Miriam’s House: A transitional housing and support program for people experiencing homelessness
- Park View Mission: A food pantry and support program that provide neighbors with groceries and other assistance
- Puppets AlaMode: An arts program for adults with developmental disabilities
