Summer Transition Programs

The Office of Belonging is about making sure our campus community is a safe and inclusive space for everyone.

The Office of Belonging is about making sure our campus community is a safe and inclusive space for everyone.

The Summer Transition Program, or STP, is designed to help incoming first-year students get accustomed to the University of Lynchburg campus before the academic year begins. During the program, students meet with faculty, staff, and upper-level students; learn about the various resources available on campus; and gain insights into how to succeed at the University of Lynchburg.

This opportunity is open to all incoming first-year students from different backgrounds, including, but not limited to:

  • Rural, suburban, and inner-city areas
  • First-generation college students
  • Black, Indigenous, and students of color

Please note: This program is open to all incoming first-year students, and space is limited. Our goals:

  • Hone students’ academic competence in a collegiate setting
  • Help participants develop social networks
  • Establish a welcoming environment that promotes diversity and inclusiveness and is free of bias
  • Introduce students to resources that can help ensure their success

STP students

STP students have a track record of becoming campus and community leaders. They also tend to be more likely to succeed in their academic endeavors.
