Dam removal set for January; memory project to preserve College Lake history
In just a few months, College Lake will be transformed into a thriving wetlands ecosystem — at least that’s the ultimate goal. First, the city of Lynchburg, in partnership with the University of Lynchburg, will begin draining the water and removing the high-hazard dam. That process is slated to start in early January 2024.
Lynchburg nursing major featured in WSLS 10’s ‘30 Days of Hope’
Emaleigh Smith ’27, a nursing major at the University of Lynchburg, is featured once again in WSLS 10’s November series, “30 Days of Hope.” In 2017, when the series launched, Smith was among the first foster kids highlighted by the local network. She was 12 at the time.

Baseball receives resolution from state representative Wendell Walker
The University of Lynchburg baseball team welcomed Del. Wendell Walker to Shellenberger Field Wednesday night as the state representative presented the Hornets with a copy of a resolution he offered during a special session at the state legislature.

New students at the University of Lynchburg were officially welcomed to campus on Wednesday morning, Aug. 23, during the annual Convocation ceremony, which was held on the Dell in front of Hopwood Hall.
2023 graduates urged to ‘lean into fear’ in pursuit of their dreams
Commencement exercises for the University of Lynchburg’s undergraduate Class of 2023 were held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, on Shellenberger Field. All told, 394 undergraduates — 203 Bachelor of Arts and 191 Bachelor of Science — received their diplomas.
