Lynchburg’s Daura Gallery changes name to Daura Museum of Art
At its February 2020 meeting, the University of Lynchburg Board of Trustees unanimously approved the renaming of the Daura Gallery to Daura Museum of Art. The new name “better reflects our mission as a teaching museum that enhances the University of Lynchburg’s academic mission,” Dr. Barbara Rothermel, director of the Daura Museum of Art, said.
Daura Gallery sponsors ‘quarantine art’ show featuring children’s works
A few weeks ago, Daura Gallery director Dr. Barbara Rothermel and coordinator Laura Cole sent out a campuswide email soliciting works of art for a virtual exhibition. They weren’t looking for professional artists, though. What they envisioned was a show that would highlight “quarantine art” by the children and grandchildren of faculty and staff.
