The University of Lynchburg’s theatre department will present two events over the next few weeks: a performance by Dance Works and the annual Curtain Up Songwriters Workshop concert. Both events are free and open to the public.

Curtain Call cabaret goes ‘On the Town’ to ‘New York, New York’ April 5-6
Curtain Call, the University of Lynchburg’s musical theater ensemble, will present “New York, New York: The Hopes and the Heartbreak” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6. The cabaret — described as “halfway between a concert and a musical” — will be held in Dillard Fine Arts Center’s Hailey Theatre. It’s free and open to the public.

The University of Lynchburg’s fall theater lineup features five performances throughout the semester. “Curtain Call and Dance Works,” the first show of the year, will be presented on Friday, Sept. 16, in conjunction with Families Weekend.

When classes went online in March, everyone at the University of Lynchburg had to figure out how to carry on while being physically separated. Students in Curtain Call, for instance, usually spend the semester at Dillard Fine Arts Center. They work on Curtain Up, a spring concert of original songs written in collaboration with New York City songwriters.
