Dr. Pat Aronson, a longtime athletic training professor at Lynchburg, will be inducted into the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame at the organization’s annual Clinical Symposia and AT Expo held in Las Vegas June 24 to 27.
Bryanna Garrett ’18, an athletic training graduate who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in advanced athletic training at the University of South Florida, was featured recently on the National Athletic Trainers’ Association blog for saving the life of a cross country runner.
Scott Allen, a 2011 graduate of the University of Lynchburg’s Athletic Training program, spent 2018 as head athletic trainer for the Baltimore Brigade, an Arena Football League franchise. In its second year as a franchise, the Brigade made it to ArenaBowl XXXI in July, where they lost to the Washington Valor.
At the National Athletic Trainers’ Association 69th Clinical Symposium and AT Expo, held in New Orleans in June, recent Lynchburg graduate Briana Rexrode ’18 won a national award for best undergraduate research poster. Her project, conducted with Dr. Tom Bowman, assistant professor of athletic training at Lynchburg, looked at the effect that socioeconomic status has on baseline neurocognitive performance.
Next Saturday, October 21, Dr. Tom Bowman, associate professor of athletic training, will toe the starting line for the Baltimore Marathon. It’ll be the second marathon for the 36-year-old, mountain-biker-turned-runner, and the second time he’s run to raise funds and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Fund.
