Sports physicist breaks down four-star Kaj Sanders speed as ‘an elite level on the high school gridiron’

Kaj Sanders is fast. According to a sports physicist, the Rutgers football commit could develop truly elite speed in college

John Eric Goff, PhD, is a professor of physics at Lynchburg and one of the top experts in the world on motion in sports. He is the author of Gold Medal Physics, which tackles the subjects of motion and physics and sports.

So when Dr. Goff was asked to calculate Sanders in motion on the football field, he not only came up with a pretty clear conclusion (the four-star athlete is pretty, pretty fast) but that there is even more upside to his game.

Using a video posted over the weekend of Sanders in action and hitting his top speed in the open field, Dr. Goff came up with some interesting numbers.

First, he looked at what speed Sanders achieved in this weekend’s game. Then, he gave a window for how that speed can develop.

“Hitting a top speed of about 20.8 mph, Kaj Sanders has reached an elite level on the high-school gridiron,” Dr. Goff said.

“As he develops over the next couple of years into his college playing career, he could reach speeds in the 21 mph – 23 mph range that is reserved for the best of the best in college and in the NFL.”

Sanders picked the Scarlet Knights from a final five that also included North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin,

He is a consensus top 10-player in New Jersey and is a four-star according to On3 and Rivals.
