Bedford County’s newly elected treasurer William Perrow started his term Tuesday after running unopposed in the Nov. 7 election.
Perrow previously worked for the City of Lynchburg as an emergency planner and for Bedford County Public Schools as supervisor of finance. A graduate of the University of Lynchburg with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration, Perrow also has served as chair of the Central Virginia Federal Credit Union.
In a news release from Bedford County, Perrow stated his goals and objectives are to enhance the customer experience with improved communication between the treasurer’s office and community, leverage operational efficiencies to improve payment processing turnaround times and develop an investment strategy to maximize returns within the cash flow cycle.
The treasurer is a critical position for the county's operations, Perrow said.

"I’m excited to build relationships with the great citizens of Bedford County and collaborate with other departments to enhance processes for taxpayers.”
The county treasurer is responsible for collecting all real estate and personal property taxes, handling all revenue for the county and for investing all county funds, according to the county's website. Perrow, a Campbell County native, succeeds Kim Snow who served the position from March 2018 through 2023.
