Members of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority at the University of Lynchburg are riding for a cause.

The sorority hosted their "Boots and Bubbly" event on Saturday where they raised money for the Special Olympics, Girls on the Run, and the Alpha Sigma Alpha scholarship foundation. Activities included a mechanical bull front and center and a cow-milking contest.

They said it's a great way to have a little fun while doing some good for the community.

"As an organization, we really do love to give back to our community and around," said chapter President Emily Hewitt, "and just having the opportunity now to give more towards them and have the opportunity to get money and help fund their races is just very important to us."

They also said that it was special to be able to hold an on-campus event since they haven't been able to do so in the last few years because of COVID-19.
