Lynchburg men, women sweep ODAC indoor Track & Field titles

The University of Lynchburg extended its streak of dual championships to three straight on Saturday and Sunday in Salem, Va., as the Hornets lifted both ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championship trophies following two days of competition in Roanoke College's Kerr-Cregger Field House.

Lynchburg's women's team left no doubt about the identity of this season's champion. The Hornets 197.00 points atop the team standings were 102.00 markers clear of second place Roanoke. Washington and Lee University rounded out the top-three with 91.00 points.

In the men's ranks, nationally ninth-ranked Lynchburg also won by a wide margin, out-pacing second place WLU, 149.00-to-103.00. Bridgewater College earned the bronze medal with 82.00 tallies.

Lynchburg's Sam Llaneza set a new ODAC Championship record in the 800m run with a time of 1:52.59. The Hornets' Chasen Hunt claimed the title in the Mile run, while Frank Csorba claimed the 5K run title. The Hornets men also won the 4x400 meter relay. Randolph's Eric West claimed first in the 400m Dash, with Washington and Lee's Leyti Ndiaye and Evan Langhammer claiming titles for the High Jump and Pole Vault, respectively.

On the women's side, Lynchburg's Kayla Werner took both the Mile run and 3K run titles, while teammates Courtney Drumm and Betsy Mohnkern took the 5 K run and 60m hurdle titles, respectively. In the field, Lynchburg's Allison Bobst claimed the pole vault title, while Aniya Seward took both the Long Jump and Triple Jump titles.
