LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Lynchburg City Schools (LCS) announced that Dr. Chris Glover will be the new principal of the Fort Hill Community School come fall.

Dr. Glover has worked in education for 16 years, and with LCS for many of them. He taught at Heritage High from 2007-2012 and served as the Assistant Principal at Dunbar Middle from 2016-2019.

Fort Hill Community School is an alternative learning experience for students who may not thrive in a traditional classroom setting due to educational, behavioral, or medical needs. Dr. Glover’s passion for helping students facing adversity aligns closely with Fort Hill’s values.

“Every child needs someone to believe in them, even when obstacles abound. Rarely have I met someone who believes in students as fiercely as Dr. Glover,” said LCS Superintendent Dr. Crystal Edwards. “I’m confident he’ll do great things at Fort Hill Community School.”

Dr. Glover has committed his life to education. He earned a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He also has a master’s degree in educational leadership with a K-12 Administration licensure from the University of Lynchburg, where he is now an adjunct professor.

Dr. Glover led seminars on culture, education, and race, for organizations around the region. Many believe his experience, along with his commitment to inclusive learning, made him an ideal candidate for this role.

“My main goal is helping students heal, learn, and grow, ultimately empowering them to be the best versions of themselves they can be,” Dr. Glover said. “I’m looking forward to tackling that mission with a community of support, and I’m grateful that LCS has entrusted me with this opportunity.”
