U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, vice presidential running mate to Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, will speak to students and the general public. Kaine was first elected to office in 1994 and served as a city council member then mayor of Richmond. He became lieutenant governor of Virginia in 2002 and served as Virginia’s governor from 2006 to 2010. He was elected to the Senate in 2012, and serves on the Armed Services, Budget, Foreign Relations, and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committees. Before his career as an elected official, he worked as a civil rights attorney in Richmond.
