Brian Britt ʼ16 DPT has been honored with the Emerging Leader Award from the American Physical Therapy Association Virginia, or APTA Virginia. This recognition highlights Britt’s significant contributions to the physical therapy profession and his leadership within the state chapter.
Britt is a junior partner at Rehab Associates of Central Virginia and site director for their Lovingston clinic. In 2020, he earned his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist certification from the American Physical Therapy Association. He is also certified in trigger point dry needling.
A dedicated advocate for his profession, Britt has held leadership roles with APTA Virginia, including past district director and current political action committee chair.
Reflecting on his time at Lynchburg, he credits the DPT program with fostering his engagement with professional organizations.
“The University of Lynchburg’s DPT program is heavily invested in APTA and its state chapters and encourages its students to participate fully,” Britt said. “This set a great example for me. When I graduated and entered the workforce, I was able to see the many benefits that organization has in advancing our profession.”
Britt thanked his family, colleagues, and the professional community for their support. “My winning this award represents the collective effort of a great deal of individuals who believed in me and gave me the opportunity to give back,” he said.
Britt stressed the importance of active participation in professional organizations by current and future PTs . “Physical therapy, as well as health care in general, faces many challenges,” he said.
“I would encourage everyone who can to be active members of their professional organization to help us meet these challenges and continue helping our patients and communities.
“Many of the enormous successes that we have had in recent years, such as dry needling legislation and unfettered direct access, have only been possible with the collective efforts of the members of APTA Virginia.”
