The University of Lynchburg’s criminology program has been ranked second in Virginia by PLEXUSS Inc.
The Walnut Creek, California-based technology company ranks undergraduate programs at four-year colleges and universities, using data from the U.S. Department of Education and what they describe as “prominent ranking sources.”
Key factors considered by PLEXUSS include admissions yield, program popularity, and student retention and graduation rates.
Dan Murphy, assistant professor of criminology, said Lynchburg’s criminology program is “consistently” ranked high by PLEXUSS. The company also ranked the program 65th in the U.S. for 2024.
Additional 2024 PLEXUSS state rankings for Lynchburg included, among others, third for public health, seventh for environmental science, and eighth for the parks, recreation, leisure, and fitness studies; sports science; and education programs.
Several other Lynchburg programs were ranked in the top 20, 30, and 40.
