The University of Lynchburg School of Medicine and Health Sciences is adding a new program to its graduate level offerings, the Doctor of Executive Leadership in Healthcare.
This 100% online, 37-credit-hour doctorate program is designed to prepare health care providers and administrators for high-impact executive and leadership roles with the skills to lead complex organizations, shape policy, and drive innovation in a rapidly changing health care landscape.
The demands of the health care industry are evolving, with challenges such as policy reform, patient-care quality, and system efficiency becoming increasingly complex.
Lynchburg’s DEL in Healthcare program, developed with the needs of today’s health care field in mind, offers a unique, competency-based curriculum that aligns with the leadership standards of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“The need for innovative and visionary health care leaders has never been greater,” said Dr. Jenna Rolfs ’20 DMSc, dean of Lynchburg’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences. “Our DEL program is intended to provide just that.
“The intention for this program is to provide knowledge and skills where all members of the health care team who are looking to lead at various levels within the health care industry have the tools to be successful.
“We need leaders at the bedside and leaders in the executive C-suite making decisions and writing policy that directly affects our hospital systems.”
Graduates of the DEL in Healthcare program will be equipped with essential skills in strategic planning, financial management, communication, and ethical leadership.
Applications are now being accepted for the inaugural class. For more information about the program or the application process, visit the Doctor of Executive Leadership in Healthcare webpage or contact the Office of Graduate Success at gradsuccess@lynchburg.edu or 434.544.8300.
