The University of Lynchburg has been recognized once again in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Colleges rankings, advancing to No. 329 among National Universities in the 2025 list. This is a leap from last year’s ranking of No. 345.
Additionally, Lynchburg ranked No. 345 for Undergraduate Nursing Programs (up from No. 402) and No. 306 for “Top Performer in Social Mobility” (up from No. 333). The U.S. News rankings are based on a comprehensive review of nearly 1,800 schools nationwide. Only regionally accredited schools offering four-year undergraduate programs are eligible for inclusion.
“We are incredibly honored to not only be recognized once again by the U.S. News & World Report but to have also increased our ranking over last year by 16. This goes to show the power of the undeniably life-changing education students receive here at the University of Lynchburg,” said President Dr. Alison Morrison-Shetlar.
U.S. News & World Report’s methodology for this year’s rankings emphasizes academic reputation, cost of attendance, and return on investment, which majors are offered, the clubs and activities available, and the ease of fitting in with life on campus.
Lynchburg students engage in various activities in and outside the classroom, including undergraduate and graduate research, internships, community service, and study abroad programs. Many also participate in the University’s 60-plus clubs and organizations, with more than half involved in athletics.
