Dr. Kim McCabe, a criminology professor at the University of Lynchburg, will present a talk to international law enforcement officials in Vienna, Austria, on January 18.
Dr. McCabe is an internationally-known expert on the investigation and prevention of child abuse crimes. Her talk is part of a two-week “winter school” designed to “provide a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the fight against organized crime,” according to the event’s website. It is organized by the United Nations Standing Group on Organized Crime.
Dr. McCabe, who has published multiple books about child abuse and how to keep children safe online, will discuss the dangers children face in cyberspace, the connection to organized crime, and how law enforcement officials can respond to the threat.
