University of Lynchburg’s accelerated second degree nursing program ranks among the top programs of its kind in the nation, according to a recent scorecard released by Affordable Colleges Online.
The website’s Guide to Accelerated Nursing Programs ranks degree programs by a variety of factors, including financial aid, student-faculty ratio, and passage rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
LC’s program ranks as the 11th on the list of 50, but it is one of only three with a 100 percent NCLEX pass rate.
The second degree nursing program at LC allows someone with a bachelor’s degree in another field to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing on an accelerated timetable. Students begin in the program every May with sophomore-level nursing courses in a compressed format. Then junior and senior courses are spread out over four semesters at a traditional pace.
