Dr. Barbara Rothermel, director of the Daura Gallery and associate professor of Museum Studies, has been elected vice chair of University Museums and Collections, one of 30 committees of the International Council of Museums. The election took place at the ICOM Triennial Conference in Milan in July, which was attended by more than 3,000 museum professionals from around the world. UMAC is a forum for all those working in, or associated with, academic museums, galleries and collections. Members of UMAC come from institutions of higher education in 56 countries worldwide. As vice chair, Dr. Rothermel will work with the UMAC chair on the development and implementation of strategic planning and will oversee the UMAC journal, conferences, and ad hoc committees on standards and best practices, publications and research.
