The students and faculty of University of Lynchburg’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program represented the College well at a recent national conference Of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Fifteen of the program’s faculty members attended the APTA Combined Sections meeting in February with 72 LC students. Six of the professors presented posters about their physical therapy research, including one poster, presented by LC Professor Dr. Stephan Elam and DPT student Justin Podell, which was nominated for an award.
Another professor, Dr. Garretson Gellert, was honored at the meeting for receiving his board certification as a cardiopulmonary clinical specialist. The certification recognizes his advanced clinical knowledge and skills related to the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems in the practice of physical therapy. Eleven of University of Lynchburg’s DPT faculty members are board certified in specialty areas recognized by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
