University of Lynchburg will hold its annual High School Choral Leadership Workshop Saturday, September 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dr. Jong Kim, professor of music and director of graduate studies, will conduct the workshop, which will focus on providing high school students with musical tools that will prepare them to become leaders in their choirs. Included will be proper breathing techniques, tone placement/resonance, whole-body singing, ensemble skills and fundamentals of sight singing.
Workshop participants will have the opportunity to perform in a concluding concert with members of the LC Concert Choir at 5 p.m. in Sydnor Performance Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
Participating schools include Amherst County, Appomattox County, Eastern Montgomery, Franklin County, George Washington, Heritage, James River, Jefferson Forest, Lord Botetourt, Northside and Rustburg high schools.
