The fourth annual Gifts for Gulu “Strategies for Life” 5K race and Kids’ Fun Runs will be Saturday, March 12 at University of Lynchburg’s Shellenberger Field.
The race will benefit the “Gifts for Gulu” program whose purpose is to help raise awareness about genocide and collect new/used athletic equipment for the people of Gulu, Uganda. Runners are encouraged to bring new/used athletic shoes and athletic equipment which will be sent to the people of Gulu.
Starting time for the 5K is 8 a.m. The Kids’ Fun Runs begins at 9 a.m. and include the ¼ mile “Giraffe Run,” age 6 and under; ½ mile “Lion Run,” age 7-9; 1 mile “Hornet Run,” age 10-12. All children will receive a photo and a hand-carved animal from a child in Uganda.
The entry fee for the 5K is $20 before March 5 and $25 day of the race. The children’s races are $15 before March 5 and $20 the day of the race.
