What do you get when you take 72 hours + 525 first-year students + 40 Connection Leaders + 18 Resident Assistants + two residence halls and a huge new campus to explore? Hornet Days!
Be prepared to:
- Say "cheese,"
- Sign a pledge,
- Climb a wall,
- Play Bingo,
- Serve your greater Lynchburg community,
- Discover who's living next door and ...
- Get ready for the first day of classes.
“What we say and do with our students during those first few days is a big deal,” said B.J. Keefer, director of Student Activities and Leadership Programs. “We need to show them community, the importance of involvement, service, teamwork, and that we are who we say we are.”
Students will get a chance to do a variety of volunteer activities throughout the Lynchburg community during the "Service Plunge." Volunteerism is important at LC, where students donate 70,000 community service hours annually.
Students will learn about the importance of our Honor and Student Code of Conduct and share their perceptions on this year's Common Reading, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
On Tuesday, August 19 at 9 a.m., brand new Hornets attend Convocation to get a formal welcome to the College. The ceremony serves as the bookend that leads to graduation. Believe it or not, four years pass very quickly.
Welcome to Lynchburg College. It's going to be a great year!
