What sparked your interest in physical therapy?
My interest in physical therapy started when I injured myself running cross-country in high school. This was my first experience with physical therapy and I thought it was so cool to see how the body could heal from rehabilitation. Unfortunately, I hurt myself again playing soccer my senior year of high school, and tore some of my ankle tendons. This required my return to physical therapy for weeks, but this time I saw myself doing this as a career!
What’s the most exciting part of the DPT program?
The most exciting part of the DPT program is how this program feels like a family. I love how supportive my classmates are to each other and how close we are becoming. It is so nice to have so much support for these tough years ahead.
What do you hope to do with your degree?
Before starting PT school, I hoped to go into pediatrics or sports physical therapy. But the more classes I take, the more I become interested in other areas. I am excited to use all of the clinical experience I will gain to help me select which area of PT I will go into.
What are some of your hobbies?
I like playing soccer, going for runs, hanging out with friends, watching football especially the Hokies and the Philadelphia Eagles, and playing with my dog Lexi.
What is your favorite quote?
“I find the great in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it, – but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes
