Medical Facilities of America is dedicated to our students’ success and wants to highlight students for their efforts! MFA selected Erik Kreil as the Student of the Month for April.
Name: Erik Kreil
Hometown: Washington, D.C.
Undergraduate degree and school: Kinesiology with a concentration in Movement Science, The Pennsylvania State University
What the faculty are saying about him:
“Erik has shown excellent growth this year academically as well as in his role as a leader in his cohort. He has always been a good student, but this semester he has really learned how to perform at the next level in his coursework. Erik has also shown tremendous growth in his leadership abilities. His cohort entrusted him with the position of Vice President and he has grown stronger each month in his ability to handle situations that arise within his cohort and while interacting with faculty and campus leaders. Erik has shown that he is the type of student and leader that exemplifies the Lynchburg College philosophy of going “Above and Beyond.” Erik is also going to be a practicing physical therapist that we will be proud to say is a graduate of the LC DPT program.”
– Stephen W. Elam, PT, DPT, GCS, OCS, CLT
What sparked your interest in physical therapy?
Similar to many in this profession, I was first exposed to PT after suffering a debilitating sports injury in High School. I remember being in awe at the level of care, intelligence, and enthusiasm exhibited by the PTs I encountered during a vulnerable time for me. Joining the profession and creating experiences for others like the one I had been given immediately jumped to the forefront of my goals, and I have never looked back!
What’s the most exciting part of the DPT program?
I love the many opportunities the faculty arrange for us students to work directly with patients in the community. It’s an amazing way to interweave learning in the classroom with the dynamic interaction of patient care.
What do you hope to do with your degree?
My goal is to open a clinic of my own. I would love to work either with kids’ sports teams in the context of prevention or US military populations.
What are some of your hobbies?
I really enjoy playing sports with friends, volunteering, and Game of Thrones, of course.
What is your favorite quote?
“The height of your accomplishments is determined by the depth of your convictions.” – William F. Scolavino
I really admire those who employ humble servitude into their everyday lives. It’s a concept that I would like to integrate into my life more consistently.
