University Lecture Series: News, China & the Recolonization of the Caribbean

October 25, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Caribbean islands are world-renowned for their sand, sea and sunshine. However, beneath the veil of tourism is the quiet takeover of local infrastructure and development by Chinese-based firms. Come island hopping as Dr. Ghislaine Lewis, PhD, explores how China, through their “Belt and Road Initiative,” is redrawing borders in the Caribbean and disrupting regional integration.

  • This event is free and open to the public.

The University Lecture Series features scholar and experts from the University of Lynchburg and celebrates their roles as educators, mentors, and researchers who make an impact on our campus and beyond. We invite our entire campus community as well as the general public to come and learn from their fascinating insights.
