Dr. D.L. Pete Warren, LC professor emeritus of counseling, will deliver theJennie Cutler Shumate Lecture on Christian Ministry at 7:30 p.m. March 28 in Snidow Chapel.
In “Life’s Vocation – For Life,” Dr. Warren, who has served in Christian ministry for more than 50 years, will share his understanding of the meaning of vocation as a view of life which undergirds the call to live in the secular and spiritual worlds. Particular attention will be given to the role retirement plays in responding to our call. For many people, a third of their lives will be lived in retirement.
Dr. Warren will also deliver the 21st Annual John Mills Turner Jr. Lecture on Life and Faith Sunday, March 27, at 3 p.m. at First Christian Church, 3109 Rivermont Ave. In “Lunches with John,” Dr. Warren will speak about Turner, a 1929 LC graduate, English professor, dean of the College, vice president for academic affairs, and one of the most beloved and respected members of the University of Lynchburg community for forty-one years (1933-74).
