LC President Kenneth Garren was the only Division III president on a panel discussion at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) national convention in San Antonio, Texas, on “Presidential Leadership and Athletics.”
Dr. Garren was one of four presidents selected to join the panel discussion on the need for strong leadership connecting academics and athletics.
“I was privileged to represented all D-III presidents at this prestigious event,” he said. “My main message was that our University of Lynchburg athletic model is built on teamwork. While I, as president, am ultimately responsible for all decisions at the institution, University of Lynchburg has achieved tremendous athletic success due to our highly talented group of coaches and our athletic director.
“I am proud to be part of a team that has lifted LC into the national spotlight in multiple sports in recent years. It’s an impressive collective effort as these fine coaches recruit excellent student athletes and then get the most from them both on the field and in the classroom. This team approach has further strengthened an already proud tradition of Hornet athletics.”
