LC receives special ed grant
Lynchburg College has received an $11,200 grant from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) to deliver graduate level special education courses to individuals who hold a provisional special education license with a Special Education: General Curriculum K-12 endorsement.
Eligible teachers must be employed in Virginia public schools as special educators of children with disabilities (accessing the general curriculum).
The grant will run through June 30, 2013 and will provide significant state and College tuition support for the designated classes needed to complete endorsement requirements. These graduate courses can be taken on a non-degree basis and are also applicable to the MEd in Special Education program.
Teachers in VDOE Superintendent Regions 5, 6, and 8 — which include much of the central part of the state — are eligible.
